PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwan's athletes shone brightly at the Paralympics, securing three silver and two bronze medals before the event concluded on Sunday (Sept. 8).
The closing ceremony saw Taiwanese table tennis prodigy Chen Po-yen (陳柏諺) and Taiwan table tennis player Tian Shiau-wen (田曉雯) proudly carrying the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC,中華奧會) flag, receiving cheers from the crowd.
Tian emerged as the biggest winner, clinching a silver medal in the women's doubles WD20 category and a bronze in the women's singles TT10 category.
Meanwhile, Xiao Xiang-wen (蕭翔文), a taekwondo athlete, also contributed to Taiwan's medal tally by winning a bronze in the men's K44 58kg category.
This year's Paris Paralympics mirrored the structure of the Olympics. The Sports Administration provided support to the Chinese Taipei Paralympic Committee (CTPC, 中華帕拉林匹克總會) and the National Sports Training Center (NSTC, 國訓中心) by establishing physical therapy facilities, sports centers, and dining apartments outside the athlete village.
As Taiwan celebrates these achievements, the focus shifts to preparing for future competitions, ensuring athletes receive the necessary support and training to continue their success on the global stage.
