TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Coast Guard Administration's (海巡署) Southern Branch's 11th Patrol Team had advised 158 people to leave the shores by Wednesday (Oct. 2) at 10 a.m. while continuing on with typhoon preparedness efforts. As Typhoon Krathon (山陀兒) approaches Taiwan, strong winds and high waves have been reported in coastal areas of Tainan.

The Coast Guard Administration's press release stated that the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) forecasted severe impacts from Typhoon Krathon, including high waves along the coast. Both the Tainan City Government and the Kaohsiung City Government issued restrictions, warning the public against visiting the coast to watch the waves.

Authorities have designated warning areas to enforce evacuations and control port activities. The 11th Patrol Team emphasized that anyone who ignores the warnings and stays will face fines ranging from NT$50,000 to NT$250,000 under the "Disaster Prevention and Protection Act" (災害防救法).

By Wednesday (Oct. 2) at 10 a.m., the 11th Patrol Team had deployed 58 vehicles and 144 personnel to assist in the evacuation of 158 people. The Coast Guard Administration will continue monitoring the situation and enforcing safety measures to protect the public from the typhoon's severe effects.
