TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei 101's new chairperson revealed on Friday (Oct. 11) that budget constraints and limited preparation time forced her to allocate funds from her office to display the iconic building's first-ever National Day fireworks a day earlier.

The five-minute spectacle celebrated the National Day, featuring fireworks, laser light sculptures, art projections, and architectural lighting. The display incorporated elements of Taiwan's iconic landmarks, bubble tea, and the AI industry chain to create a unique visual experience.

However, after some online users expressed dissatisfaction with the show's short duration, Janet Chia (賈永婕) addressed the criticisms on social media, explaining that the preparation period lasted only 17 days. She described the process as a rush from start to finish. Despite the challenges, she highlighted the triumph of overcoming obstacles, and encouraged Taiwanese businesses to sponsor next year's event.

Chia extended her gratitude to the dedicated team who helped bring the fireworks display to life. She also thanked the Taipei City Government, the police, the fire department, the environmental bureau, the MRT bureau, and the transportation bureau for their substantial support.
