TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei City Councilor on Tuesday (Oct. 22) urged the public release of the Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋) maintenance records to ensure the operator's accountability.
During a review by the Taipei City Council's Education Committee (教育委員會), Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) Councilor Lin Yen-feng (林延鳳) pressed the Department of Sports (體育局) to publish both the fire safety verification report and maintenance records on its website.
Lin criticized the Department of Sports for its alleged "passive approach" and emphasized the need for public scrutiny to guarantee the venue's safety.
Department of Sports Director Wang Hung-shiang (王泓翔) explained that the fire safety report is not part of the contractual documents between the city government and Farglory Group (遠雄) but has been made available for council review.
Wang explained that the maintenance records are intellectual property and require mutual consent for disclosure. He promised to provide council members with details on water leakage issues and corrective measures by the end of October.
Wang stressed that the department will strictly enforce Farglory's responsibilities according to the contract.
