TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) highlighted the urgency of addressing Taiwan's pressing issues in long-term care, health, and sustainable development during the second workshop of the 2024 Taiwan Presidential Hackathon (2024總統盃黑客松) on Friday (Oct. 28).
She emphasized the hackathon's theme, "Aging Well Together, Health Sustainability" (樂齡共好.健康永續), and urged participants to transform proposals into actionable solutions to enhance national policy effectiveness.
Hsiao expressed her enthusiasm for the event, noting the collaboration of government open data and innovative approaches to tackle societal challenges. She underscored the importance of cross-disciplinary expertise and the spirit of an AI-driven cabinet.
The hackathon, which began in 2018, has reached its seventh edition. Over the years, it has attracted more than 1,100 creative proposals, selecting 30 outstanding teams whose solutions have gradually been integrated into national policies. Hsiao acknowledged the dedication of public sector colleagues and private sector experts, noting their shared passion for innovation and technology has fueled the platform's growth.
