NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) on Monday (Nov. 11) called for rational and professional communication in the Legislative Yuan (立法院) regarding amendments to the Act Governing the Allocation of Government Revenues and Expenditures (財政收支劃分法). Chiang emphasized the importance of increasing the weight of business turnover allocation to reflect local governments' fiscal incentives fairly.

New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) echoed the sentiment, urging that the amendment undergo thorough discussion for reasonable distribution and expressing hope for collaboration between central and local governments. Hou pointed out that the amendment has been under discussion for over 20 years, urging bipartisan efforts to push for its passage, advocating to "first seek to have it, then seek to perfect it."

Cho Kuan-ting (卓冠廷), a New Taipei City councilor and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) spokesperson, acknowledged New Taipei's desire for a larger share but highlighted the need for discussions on "how to distribute." He criticized the 3% capital clause as unreasonable, noting that while Taipei, as the political and economic center, receives the most tax revenue, factories, and pollution affect other counties, which he views as unfair.

Officials, including Chiang and Hou, shared these remarks during the unveiling ceremony of the first train delivered for the Wanda Line (捷運萬大線).
