TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Minister of Economic Affairs, J.W. Kuo (郭智輝), announced on Monday (Nov. 11) that AI guidelines for the manufacturing sector have been completed to propel AI integration. Kuo revealed that the government aims for a 50% AI adoption rate in manufacturing by 2028.

The economic affairs minister emphasized that Taiwan's industrial sector contributes nearly 40% to the nation's GDP, generating over NT$18 trillion and creating more than 4 million jobs. He noted the ongoing AI wave, with international companies investing heavily in AI infrastructure

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA, 經濟部) has integrated industry needs and resources to promote widespread AI technology applications, drawing inspiration from Japan's AI guidelines for SMEs.

Kuo highlighted plans to develop standardized AI curriculum materials with academic experts to train 200,000 AI professionals within four years. He also noted Taiwan's global leadership in AI chips and servers, aiming to elevate its AI software industry ranking from 26th to the top three by 2028.

During the Industrial Festival, the ministry honored 540 manufacturing firms with over 50 years of history and 562 firms with over 40 years. Notable recipients included Taiwan TAFFETA Fabric Co., Ltd. (富綢纖維), Taiwan Glass (台灣玻璃), and ASE Holdings (日月光半導體), alongside many SMEs in electronics, machinery, chemicals, food, and textiles.
