TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The head of Taiwan's National Security Bureau (NSB, 國家安全局) reiterated Monday (Nov. 18) the bureau's policy of not publicly commenting on individual cases, including Bo Guagua's (薄瓜瓜) whereabouts.

Bo Guagua, the son of former Chinese official Bo Xilai (薄熙來), will marry Hsu Hui-yu (許惠瑜), the granddaughter of Lotung Poh-Ai Hospital (羅東博愛醫院) founder, on Nov. 23. This upcoming union has drawn significant public interest, as Bo prepares to become a son-in-law in Taiwan.

NSB Director-General Tsai Ming-yen (蔡明彥) addressed concerns regarding Bo's activities in Taiwan. He stated that the bureau monitors foreign individuals of special status to ensure they do not engage in activities that deviate from their stated purpose of visit. Tsai assured that if such activities occur, the bureau will report them to the appropriate authorities.

He emphasized that if foreign nationals conduct legal activities in Taiwan, the bureau will respect and ensure their safety, preventing any disturbances that could affect their security or societal peace.

Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council (大陸委員會) recently confirmed that Bo applied for his visit under the regulations for mainland Chinese individuals, and the government remains fully informed of his status.
