TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Meteorologists forecasted on Wednesday (Nov. 20) two waves of northeast monsoon affecting Taiwan this week, with temperatures in northern Taiwan possibly dropping below 15 degrees Celsius in open areas next week. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported on Wednesday that persistent rain will impact Keelung's northern coast, the greater Taipei mountain area, and Yilan, with a high probability of heavy rain.

The CWA has also issued heavy rain alerts for Keelung's northern coast, Yilan, and Taipei's mountainous regions, advising residents to stay vigilant about weather changes. Northern Taiwan will experience cool, damp conditions with temperatures ranging from 19 to 23 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, other regions will also see cooler mornings and evenings, with central and eastern temperatures peaking at 25 to 26 degrees Celsius and southern areas at 27 to 28 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists predict that by Sunday and next Monday, the monsoon will weaken, leading to a rise in temperatures with brief rain showers in Keelung's northern coast and the northeast. Scattered showers are expected in greater Taipei, the east, and southeast. Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) explained that after Typhoon Man-yi (萬宜颱風) moves away, the cloud and rain belt from South China will shift eastward, providing crucial moisture to the environment.

Lin noted that northern Taiwan and the northeast will remain damp and cool, with temperatures between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius, and the lowest recorded temperature this morning at 14.8 degrees Celsius in Lienchiang's Nangan.
