TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) legislative caucus occupied the podium in the Legislative Yuan's Internal Administration Committee, protesting the proposed amendments to the Public Officials Election and Recall Act (公職人員選舉罷免法) in the early hours of Wednesday (Nov. 20).

Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) Legislator Hsu Yu-chen (許宇甄) earlier proposed to amend Article 75 of the Act, barring recall proposals within the first year of an official's term, and Article 90, requiring recall votes to surpass both the number of opposing votes and a quarter of the original electorate.

DPP legislator Wu Szu-yao (吳思瑤), the caucus whip, emphasized the importance of protecting recall rights and criticized the KMT for neglecting the budget review. Committee convener Hsu Hsin-ying (徐欣瑩) altered the agenda, prioritizing the election law review, which postponed budget discussions and fueled DPP dissatisfaction.

Lin Chu-yin (林楚茵), deputy DPP caucus whip, accused the KMT of raising recall thresholds to secure their positions, arguing they ignored national development and welfare budget concerns
