TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported that a persistent northeast monsoon will bring sporadic showers to areas north of Taoyuan (桃園) and the eastern regions on Friday (Nov. 22). Keelung's north coast, Yilan, and the mountainous areas of Greater Taipei will likely experience prolonged rainfall.

The CWA noted that cooler weather will persist through Saturday in northern and northeastern Taiwan, with other regions experiencing cooler mornings and evenings. Meanwhile, meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) forecasted the potential arrival of a genuine cold air mass next Wednesday and Thursday, which would lower temperatures even more.

He warned that when Taipei's temperature drops to 10 degrees Celsius or below, Taiwan will be expecting a cold wave or cold surge. On Friday, New Taipei's Shiding (石碇) recorded a low of 15.8 degrees Celsius. If temperatures fall between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius, a continental cold air mass affects Taiwan, Lin explained.

Residents should prepare for a potential temperature drop next week, with lows possibly reaching 13 degrees Celsius in northern and northeastern regions. As weather conditions evolve, monitoring updates from the CWA is advisable to stay informed about the impending cold front.
