TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) reported on Monday (Nov. 25) that the first wave of a dry, cold air mass will affect Taiwan from Wednesday to Saturday, resulting in clear and stable weather. While daytime temperatures will be pleasant, nights and mornings will be notably chilly, with significant temperature differences between day and night.

The northeast monsoon weakened on Monday, leading to rising temperatures across Taiwan. However, Keelung's north coast and the northeast regions experienced sporadic rain. Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) indicated that a front will pass through Tuesday, bringing cold air southward and causing localized showers in the northern and eastern parts of the island.

Wu said that from Thursday through Saturday, the combination of the cold air mass and strong radiative cooling will cause some lowland areas to experience minimum temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius. The Taipei weather station predicts temperatures will drop below 14 degrees, marking the first cold air mass meeting the "continental cold air mass" criteria.

Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) analyzed that moisture will decrease starting Wednesday afternoon, with the radiative cooling effect most pronounced during the nights and early mornings of Thursday and Friday. Residents in the north and northeast can expect lows of 12 to 14 degrees Celsius, while Hualien and Taitung will see 14 to 16 degrees. Central and southern regions will experience temperatures as low as 13 to 16 degrees. Stay updated with the latest forecasts as the cold air mass approaches.
