TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Civil Aviation Administration (CAA, 民航局) announced on Monday (Dec. 2) that airlines will lower domestic ticket prices starting Dec. 31, following a drop in aviation fuel prices reported by CPC Corporation, Taiwan (中油). The administration implemented this adjustment as part of its pricing mechanism, which responds to average fuel price changes over three consecutive months.
CPC Corporation, Taiwan, revealed on the same day that the aviation fuel price reached NT$21.74 per liter, triggering the fare reduction threshold. As a result, airlines will decrease fares by an average of NT$95 across various routes. The CAA stated that airlines will adjust full ticket prices within the upper and lower limits approved by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, with an average decrease of 4.3%.
Airlines will automatically refund the price difference for domestic tickets departing after Dec. 31. However, passengers who wish to change their travel dates to before Dec. 30 must pay the fare difference according to the ticket terms. The fare adjustment aims to provide passengers with more affordable travel options and reflects the commitment to adjusting prices based on fuel cost fluctuations.
