TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Czech Republic's Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs passed a motion on Thursday (Dec. 12), addressing China's misinterpretation of United Nations Resolution 2758 and supporting Taiwan's participation in international organizations. The motion, which received strong bipartisan backing, aims to counter Beijing's narrative and condemn its military provocations around Taiwan.

Eva Decroix, co-chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) and leader of the motion received support from IPAC members Hayato Okamura (岡村勇人) and Helena Langšádlová. The motion calls on the European Union and its member states to promote Taiwan's meaningful participation in global organizations.

This marks the sixth parliament to adopt a motion related to the IPAC's "2758 Initiative," reflecting growing international attention on Taiwan. In July, over 50 IPAC members, including Decroix, gathered in Taipei to vote on the initiative. Australia was the first to pass such a motion, followed by the Netherlands, the European Parliament, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

The motion underscores the critical importance of Taiwan's security to the rule-based international order and the need to address China's attempts to distort U.N. resolutions. As the global focus on Taiwan intensifies, further actions and discussions are likely to unfold.
