TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Culture (MOC, 文化部) will distribute culture points to Taiwanese youth starting Jan. 1, 2025. This initiative extends eligibility to 13-15-year-olds, who will receive 600 points, alongside the existing 1,200 points for those aged 16-22. This expansion aims to foster early cultural engagement among middle school students.
Minister of Culture Li Yuan (李遠) proposed lowering the age limit to 13, hoping to spark cultural interest in younger students. The new policy will impact approximately 605,000 individuals aged 13-15, adding to the 1.457 million eligible in the 16-22 age bracket. This means 2.063 million people will benefit from culture points in 2025.
The MOC clarified the eligibility criteria for 2025. Those aged 16-22, born between Jan. 1, 2003, and Dec. 31, 2009, will receive 1,200 points. The new 13-15 age group, born between Jan. 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2012, will receive 600 points. Both Taiwanese nationals and qualifying foreign nationals can claim these points.
Eligible youths can download the "Culture Points" (文化幣) app to register, select "Receive Cultural Points," and input personal data for verification. Once verified, they can immediately access and use their cultural coins, which are valid until Dec. 31, 2025.
