AI acceptance grows among Taiwanese travelers in 2025

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Booking.com unveiled its nine major travel trends for 2025 on Thursday (Dec. 19), showcasing the growing embrace of artificial intelligence (AI) among Taiwanese travelers, who rank third globally in acceptance of this technology. Chan Ya-yu (詹雅伃), the manager of Booking's Taiwan and Hong Kong branch, highlighted notable trends, including nighttime tours, wellness journeys, and AI-driven personalized trips that cater to individual preferences.
The survey reveals that more than 80% of Taiwanese travelers intend to utilize technology to make informed choices, seek authentic experiences, and contribute positively to local communities. Nearly 80% plan to explore lesser-known attractions through technology, while almost half will refrain from tagging locations on social media to avoid attracting crowds. However, a significant 49% of Generation Z and 45% of millennials indicated they might reconsider their travel plans if they are unable to share their experiences on social platforms. This points to an ongoing tension between the desire for genuine experiences and the need for social media validation.
Also, the SKI (Spending Kids' Inheritance) travel model is gaining traction in Asia, with older generations increasingly prioritizing shared family experiences over the traditional notion of asset inheritance. Taiwanese travelers are particularly eager to "spend on memories," ranking second globally in this shared desire, illustrating a shift in priorities toward creating lasting family bonds through travel.
