PENGHU (TVBS News) — Penghu County anticipates welcoming a third airline by mid-2025, the County Magistrate announced on Friday (Dec. 20). Penghu County Magistrate Chen Kuang-fu (陳光復) revealed that progress has reached 80%, and plans are underway to establish Penghu as a hub for international routes.

Emerald Pacific Airlines and VietJet Air are expected to set up operations in Penghu. VietJet Air, the second-largest airline in Asia, follows Singapore Airlines in fleet size. Chen shared this news while celebrating two years since his return to power, during which he introduced policies across various sectors.

Among these initiatives, Chen plans to expand publicly funded vaccine coverage. The program will include vaccines for pneumonia for those aged 60-64, cervical cancer for those aged 13-14, rotavirus for infants aged 0-2, shingles for low-income individuals over 50, and enterovirus for young children.

To encourage childbirth, the county government will offer birth subsidies starting in 2025, providing NT$40,000 for the first child, NT$60,000 for the second, and NT$80,000 for the third. Additionally, Penghu will extend a NT$10,000 annual transportation subsidy to university students and plans to include local high school students.

Penghu County has achieved a zero public debt milestone, securing over NT$600 million in tax revenue and more than NT$700 million in social welfare spending through central government subsidies. This financial stability lays a solid foundation for future developments.
