TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei 101 (台北101) will celebrate the New Year with a fireworks show themed "Team Taiwan and Champion," featuring a large light sculpture display to honor Taiwan's heroes, Chairwoman Chia Yeong-chieh (賈永婕) revealed on Monday (Dec. 23), highlighting the event's focus on Taiwan's recent baseball victory.
The Legislative Yuan's Finance Committee (財政委員會) invited the Ministry of Finance (財政部), the Financial Supervisory Commission (金管會), and Chia to present a special report on the 2024 performance and 2025 plans of Taipei Financial Center Corporation, alongside the fireworks show details. Chia announced that this year's fireworks display will extend to six minutes, with Cathay United Bank as the exclusive sponsor. However, she kept the specifics under wraps.
Chia addressed media concerns about the early release of a fireworks simulation video on social media, explaining it was a cost-saving measure to avoid a press conference. She emphasized intentions to help Taipei 101's social media presence grow, noting its previously limited reach. During her Legislative Yuan appearance, Chia expressed gratitude and dismissed any future role as finance minister or cabinet member. As the New Year approaches, Taipei 101's celebration promises to captivate audiences and boost the landmark's visibility.
