TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Government's Department of Sports (台北市體育局) responded to residents' complaints regarding Taipei Dome concerts on Monday (Dec. 23), explaining that experts have determined the vibrations pose little risk to building safety. Residents near the Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋) reported vibrations in their homes over the weekend during A-Mei's (張惠妹) concerts, sparking concern.

To this, the Taipei City government stated that they will require the Farglory Group (遠雄巨蛋公司) to notify residents of future events in advance. Giwas Chi-gou (吉娃斯‧吉果), the chief of Xinglong borough (興隆里), noted that vibrations on Dec. 22 were more intense than the previous night, beginning at 9 p.m. She suggested the city government impose restrictions similar to those at the Taipei Arena to prevent group jumping during events.

Commissioner Wang Hung-shiang (王泓翔) of the Department of Sports stated the city will continue monitoring the impact of events on the surrounding area to find a balance between successful events and resident comfort. Wang added that while the vibrations might be caused by resonance and are unlikely to threaten structural safety, they could cause discomfort for residents. The city will demand advance notice of events from Farglory.
