TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — The Taichung City Police Department (台中市警察局) celebrated the retirement of four police dogs on Tuesday (Dec. 24), marking a new chapter for TINY, CANDY, PINKY, and BOBBY as they transition to life with their new families. The department hosted a farewell appreciation event, ensuring each canine found an ideal home.
TINY and BOBBY's handler was committed to providing love and companionship, underscoring the deep bond between humans and animals. "They have become more than partners; they are family," the handler said. CANDY will enjoy a leisurely retirement with Ms. Chi (齊) in Miaoli, who offers a 700-square-meter green space, a cabin, and the company of three dogs and a cat.
PINKY found a loving home with Ms. Tsai's (蔡) family in Taichung. Their extensive experience with dogs and pet-friendly environment promise a nurturing setting. The department emphasized the importance of a proper care environment for retired working dogs, noting their different needs from those of pet dogs.
Before retiring, the unit conducted health checks on the four dogs, confirming they were in good condition. During adoption, they prioritized factors such as living environment, companionship time, and financial stability. As these loyal service dogs embark on new journeys, their stories highlight the enduring connection and responsibility shared between humans and their canine companions.
