TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋) will launch a limited-time exhibition, "From Dome to Future" (巨誕), on Friday (Jan. 10), running until April 20. The exhibit, open from Thursday to Sunday each week, aims to integrate Taiwan's rich baseball culture with broader cultural exchanges, according to Chou Szu-chi (周思齊), a retired baseball star and current assistant to the president of the Baseball Federation of Asia (亞洲棒球總會).
Chou, who attended a press conference at Taipei Dome earlier that day alongside fellow former Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL, 中職) players Kuan Ta-yuan (官大元) and Pan Wei-lun (潘威倫), emphasized the need for collaboration among designers, architects, artists, baseball professionals, and historians. He believes this integration is essential to avoid a lack of thematic storytelling. Chou described Taiwan's baseball culture as a "tragic hero," each era possessing its own challenging stories.
Inspired by his recent visit to the San Francisco Giants stadium in California, Chou praised its cultural ambiance, highlighting elements like player names and timelines engraved on maintenance hole covers, floor tiles, and walls. He emphasized the importance of creating a similar cultural atmosphere at Taipei Dome, particularly following the successful hosting of 92 events, including his retirement ceremony, in its first year of operation.
Chou reflected on his current role, stating, "It's doing everything, but it's all baseball-related stuff." He emphasized the importance of staying active.
