KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) on Sunday (Jan. 12) highlighted the crucial role of youth as the driving force behind Taiwan's progress. She attended a ceremony in Kaohsiung, joined by Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁), Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) Legislator Lin Tai-hua (林岱樺), and Tsai Cheng-yen (蔡政諺), President of Junior Chamber International Taiwan (JCI, 國際青年商會中華民國總會).
Hsiao addressed the Swearing-in Ceremony for the 73rd President and Board of Supervisors of JCI, acknowledging the organization's long-standing tradition and expressing gratitude for its societal contributions. She recalled attending last year's JCI World Congress, where she witnessed the vibrancy and enthusiasm of international and civic engagement.
Emphasizing the innovative and proactive nature of youth, Hsiao urged the creation of new visions for young people in line with evolving trends in technology and society. She stated that the key to the nation's future development lies in whether the youth possess passion and vitality and are filled with vision for the future.
Hsiao noted that JCI consistently leads in addressing contemporary issues. The event featured experts discussing local revitalization, sustainable innovation, and AI trends. She pointed out Taiwan's challenges, such as an aging population and energy transition, stressing the need for more young talent.
