Yilan Harbor Lantern Festival lights up Dongshan Township

YILAN (TVBS News) — Organizers kicked off the 2025 Yilan Harbor Lantern Festival (2025冬山舊河港燈節) on Wednesday (Jan. 8) in Yilan's Dongshan Township (宜蘭冬山區), transforming areas from the Dongshan Train Station (冬山火車站) to the old river trail into a vibrant display of colorful lanterns. The festival, running through Feb. 16, invites visitors to capture picturesque moments along the illuminated path.

On Feb. 8, a lantern festival highlight will be a 600-second fireworks show at 8:25 p.m. in Yilan, best viewed by train for convenience. Also, the Dongshan Night Market (冬山夜市) and the special Dongshan 'Snake' Market (冬山蛇麼咚咚市集) will be set up under the railway bridge plaza at Dongshan Station between Jan. 31 and Feb. 2 and on Feb. 8-9.



Visitors can also enjoy water activities at Dongshan River Ecoark (冬山河生態綠舟), including single SUP paddleboarding, tandem water bicycles, and nine-seater electric boats, enhancing the fireworks experience with on-water dining.
