TAIPEI (TVBS News) — NVIDIA (輝達) CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) landed in Taiwan on Thursday (Jan. 16) to attend the unveiling ceremony of Siliconware Precision Industries (矽品精密) new plant in Taichung. The Chinese version of his authorized biography is set to be released next Monday.
Huang, who arrived at Taichung Airport shortly before 2 p.m. after departing from Hong Kong International Airport at 12:14 p.m., was warmly welcomed by a throng of fans eager for autographs. He plans to join Siliconware Chairman Tsai Chi-wen (蔡祺文) at the ribbon-cutting event, highlighting the collaboration between NVIDIA and Siliconware Precision Industries.
Huang's itinerary initially included a visit to TSMC (台積電) in Hsinchu, but he altered his plans to personally visit ASE Technology Holding's (日月光投控) Siliconware. In a related media report, his biography reveals an enduring friendship between Huang and TSMC founder Morris Chang (張忠謀), sparked by a phone call in a bustling office. The book details how Huang, facing a supply shortage for NVIDIA's Riva graphics cards, reached out to Chang, initiating a partnership that has lasted over 20 years.
Huang's first visit to a TSMC plant in the late 1990s left a lasting impression. He described it as the cleanest place on Earth, where precision in manufacturing is paramount. Despite his wealth and fame, the biography notes Huang's fondness for Taiwan's night markets, where he enjoys beef noodle soup from roadside stalls.
