HSINCHU (TVBS News) — The Public Health Bureau of Hsinchu County Government (新竹縣政府衛生局) announced on Monday (Jan. 20) that five medical institutions in the county will offer COVID-19 vaccinations during the Lunar New Year holiday. Officials encourage residents to get vaccinated during this period.
Yin Dong-cheng (殷東成), the county's public health bureau chief, advised residents to get vaccinated early. He highlighted that family gatherings and travel increase the risk of infection, and recommended influenza and COVID-19 JN.1 vaccination. Yin emphasized that it takes approximately two weeks after vaccination to develop immunity, urging high-risk groups, including seniors over 65 and individuals with chronic illnesses, to receive their shots promptly.
During the holiday, five facilities, including Zhuyou Parent-Child Clinic (竹佑親子診所) and Xinxin Hospital (竹信醫院), will provide COVID-19 vaccines. Residents aged 12 and above can choose between Moderna and Novavax JN.1 vaccines. The bureau reported that as of last Wednesday, about 5,000 doses of government-funded flu vaccines remain available, encouraging those unvaccinated to act quickly.
As the holiday approaches, the health bureau's measures aim to mitigate the risk of severe illness and fatalities among vulnerable populations. Residents should consider the available options and prioritize their health and safety by getting vaccinated.
