TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A new survey conducted by yes123 Job Bank (yes123求職網) from Jan. 3 to Jan. 17 reveals that during Lunar New Year gatherings, people most dread being asked about their salary. The survey highlights that 43.3% of respondents feel uncomfortable discussing their income, while other common questions include inquiries about their job (42.4%) and year-end bonuses (41.3%).
The survey, which gathered 1,277 valid responses with a 95% confidence level, also uncovers that 40.6% of employees worry most about the amount of money they should give in red envelopes during the holiday. Other concerns include overcrowded tourist spots and restaurants (39.6%), social interactions with relatives (38.7%), and traffic congestion (37.4%).
Bingo Yang (楊宗斌), a spokesperson for yes123 Job Bank, notes that as the economy recovers, a labor shortage has led to increased salaries, allowing workers to slightly raise their budgets for gifts and red envelopes. Yang advises employees act according to one's means when giving red envelopes or purchasing gifts to avoid financial strain.
The survey suggests that if the past year has been challenging at work, families should avoid pressuring their children during gatherings. For future career or marriage plans, it recommends using encouragement rather than blame. As the holiday approaches, these insights may help ease the anxiety surrounding family gatherings and financial obligations.
