TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC, 台灣高鐵) highlighted its leadership in low-carbon initiatives, environmental protection, sustainability, and supply chain management on Thursday (Jan. 23) after being recognized as the fifth most sustainable corporation in the world, according to the Global 100 list announced by the World Economic Forum (WEF) a day earlier in Davos, Switzerland.
THSRC, which has maintained a top 10 position in the global sustainability rankings for three consecutive years, topped the transit and ground transportation group and the transportation infrastructure industry in various indicators. THSRC President James Jeng (鄭光遠) expressed pride in the company's achievements, stating that they are honored to have passed international reviews and maintained a top 10 ranking for three consecutive years and will share this honor with their passengers.
Jeng also emphasized the role of high-speed trains as a green transport backbone in Taiwan. He noted that the company plans to align with global ESG trends through its five-year medium- to long-term strategic plan, aiming to create a safe and comfortable travel environment for passengers. Corporate Knights (企業騎士), which conducted the sustainability performance evaluation, assessed approximately 8,359 large companies worldwide with revenues exceeding US$1 billion.
Since debuting on the list in 2023 at ninth place, THSRC has consistently maintained its record of excellence among the top 10 sustainable corporations globally. This recognition underscores the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the transportation sector.
