NANTOU (TVBS News) — Nantou is home to Taiwan's famous Sun Moon Lake (日月潭), but it also hosts Taiwan's only "Yuanbao Tudigong Temple" (元寶土地公廟). Located on Nangang Road (南港路) in Nantou's Guoxing Township (國姓鄉), the temple has become a magnet for tourists, thanks to its unique golden ingot-shaped rocks. The temple offers a large parking lot, making it convenient for visitors, including tour buses, to arrive in groups for worship.

Temple staff report that the temple, which lacks walls but features a sunshade, enjoys a cool climate attributed to the site selection by Tudigong (tutelary deities of locations). They also explain to visitors that Tudigong instructed the temple's construction through a dream, a claim supported by the temple's century-old history.

Natural wonders abound, with golden ingot-shaped rocks, including the golden toad and golden money turtle stones, inviting visitors to touch them for good fortune.

A distinctive feature, the "Stone of Fortune" (石來運轉), can be effortlessly rotated and is believed to bring luck and wealth. Along the temple's pathways, unique small ingot-shaped stones adorn the irregular stone handrails.

Visitors can also strike the peace bell, a popular activity to pray for prosperity, happiness, and health. As interest in the temple grows, it stands as a testament to the enduring cultural and spiritual traditions that continue to draw people from near and far.
