TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang (江啟臣) expressed his hopes on Friday (Jan. 24) for more substantial progress in Taiwan-U.S. cooperation in trade, security, and international participation. In a Facebook post, Chiang shared how he welcomed Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) and legislators returning from the U.S. at Taoyuan Airport in the early morning hours.

Han had previously led a delegation to the U.S. to celebrate President Donald Trump's inauguration. Chiang thanked Han and the bipartisan legislators for representing the Republic of China and promoting congressional diplomacy through meetings with numerous political figures.

The legislative vice president emphasized Taiwan and the U.S. as crucial partners and allies, believing the trip would deepen bilateral relations. He anticipates continued collaboration to strengthen Taiwan's international standing. Ko Ju-chun (葛如鈞), a Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) legislator, described the visit as fruitful and thanked the diplomats for their support.

Ko highlighted the valuable insights and ideas gained during the visit, noting meetings with influential members of Congress and think tanks. He stressed the importance of bringing these insights back to Taiwan for discussion, aiming to further enhance Taiwan-U.S. friendship.

As Taiwan looks to the future, the delegation's efforts may pave the way for strengthened ties with the U.S., fostering opportunities for collaboration in key areas.
