TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Hsieh Su-wei (謝淑薇), a Taiwanese tennis star, and her Latvian partner Jelena Ostapenko advanced to the Australian Open (AO) women's doubles final on Friday (Jan. 24). Hsieh expressed confidence after the match, saying she is ready for the following game. This achievement follows their victory in the semifinals against the second-seeded Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealander Erin Routliffe with scores of 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.

Hsieh, who entered the tournament as the defending champion in both women's and mixed doubles, faced an early exit in mixed doubles with her Polish partner Jan Zielinski. However, her partnership with Ostapenko successfully reached the women's doubles semifinals. In the decisive third set, they broke their opponents' serve in the second game, ultimately securing a 6-3 win and a spot in the final.

Ranked as the third seed in the AO women's doubles, Hsieh and Ostapenko will face the top-seeded team of Czech Katerina Siniakova and American Taylor Townsend in the final. Hsieh, a nine-time Grand Slam doubles champion, including two mixed doubles titles last year, expressed her readiness for the final. She showed her gratitude to the supportive fans by making a heart shape with her fingers, which prompted enthusiastic cheers.
