NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News)—The 2025 New Taipei Lantern Festival, running from Feb. 1-16, features a dynamic main lantern show every half hour. The festival showcases a 12-meter giant technological snake head with light effects and smoke, creating a lively scene.

New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih (侯友宜) and South Korean cheerleading icon Lee Da-hye (李多慧) inaugurated the festival last Saturday night at the New Taipei Metropolitan Park (新北大都會公園), which was transformed into a vibrant spectacle with the theme "Auspicious Snake: Let's PLAY Together" (靈蛇獻瑞 一起PLAY).

The city's Department of Civil Affairs (民政局) has designed interactive games, including the "Snake Shadow Maze" (蛇影迷宮區) constructed from shipping containers and the "Let's PLAY Area," where drumming activates lights, symbolizing life's continuity.

For the first time, the festival collaborated with Netflix, immersing visitors in drama scenes with activities like electronic sky lantern blessings and wearing traditional Chinese clothing experiences. Boasting 10 themed lantern areas, weekend performances, and nearly 120 stalls at the market, the festival invites the public to joyfully celebrate the Lantern Festival.
