TAIPEI (TVBS News)—The 13th Taipei International Comics & Animation Festival (第13屆台北國際動漫節) kicked off on Thursday (Feb. 6). The organizer anticipates 480,000 visitors during its five-day exhibition, generating an estimated NT$250 million in economic activity.
The festival at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (台北南港展覽館), which runs until next Monday, has attracted over 100 exhibitors and features approximately 800 booths.
The Chinese Animation & Comic Publishers Association (中華動漫出版同業協進會) aimed to highlight Taiwan's creative talent by showcasing past winners of the Best IP Awards (原創IP風雲榜). Diverse offerings, including limited-edition merchandise, voice actor meet-and-greets, and idol performances, have attracted long lines of eager fans.
Deputy Culture Minister Lee Ching-hwi (李靜慧) attended the opening ceremony and emphasized the importance of comics, while expressing hope for a successful event.
