TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Police questioned 20 individuals regarding the Taichung department store blast on Thursday (Feb. 13), including construction workers, department store employees, and staff from Shin Chung Natural Gas Co., Ltd. (欣中天然氣股份有限公司).
A gas explosion at the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store in Taichung (新光三越百貨台中中港店) earlier that day left four dead and 31 injured.
At the Taichung District Prosecutors Office (台中地方檢察署) on Thursday night, 16 individuals, some of which were on-site construction workers, were questioned and have since been released as witnesses. The office aims to reconstruct the scene and clarify the events leading to the explosion.
Two workers injured in the blast, one with head injuries and the other with leg injuries, were working on the 12th floor, close to the explosion site. After questioning, they left the prosecutor's office by car. The workers reported that the explosion happened suddenly but were unable to provide further details.
