TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A vibrant sea of crimson blossoms awaits visitors as Tainan City (台南市) Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) officially launched the eagerly anticipated Baihe Linchupi Kapok Flower Festival (白河林初埤木棉花季) on Friday (March 14). With approximately 80% of the distinctive red flowers already unfurled along the famous tree-lined path, the mayor confidently predicted that nature enthusiasts would witness the spectacular full bloom by next week.
The Baihe Linchupi Kapok Trail has earned international acclaim as one of the world's most magnificent flower corridors. Stretching an impressive 866.5 meters, this natural wonder has become a pilgrimage site for photography enthusiasts and tourists seeking to capture the stunning contrast between the fiery red kapok blossoms and the clear spring sky.
This year's blooming schedule faced a slight delay due to unusually cold weather in the early months, but organizers have adapted with a comprehensive program of events running from March 15 to 30. Visitors can immerse themselves in the natural beauty through guided tours that reveal the ecological significance of the kapok trees, while the Kapok Music Feast will provide a harmonious soundtrack to the visual splendor of the surroundings.
The festival experience extends beyond the visual feast to include culinary delights. Food vendors will line the charming old railway adjacent to the flower path, offering an array of local Tainan specialties. This arrangement allows visitors to savor authentic regional snacks while enjoying the refreshing springtime atmosphere beneath the canopy of flowering trees.
To ensure a smooth experience for all attendees, local authorities have implemented thoughtful traffic management measures during the peak visitation period. Weekend restrictions will be in effect on the South 90 Line, with the Kapok Flower Road section limited to one-way traffic for small passenger vehicles only. Visitors are encouraged to utilize the designated Dazhu Parking Lot or find parking spaces along nearby roads, allowing for convenient access to this seasonal natural spectacle that has become one of Taiwan's most cherished spring traditions.
