TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan enjoyed a respite of stable weather on Friday (April 11) following the exit of a weather front that had swept across the island. Meteorologists noted a significant temperature rise, with highs between 27 to 30 degrees Celsius (80.6 to 86°F), while inland regions of central and southern Taiwan could experience temperatures climbing as high as 33 degrees Celsius (91.4°F).

WeatherRisk (天氣風險公司), a private weather forecasting company, analyst Lin Hsiao-ju (林孝儒) cautioned that afternoon heat convection could trigger localized showers or thunderstorms in mountainous territories, with possible expansion to lower elevations. He urged outdoor enthusiasts to remain vigilant about evolving weather patterns. Lin also alerted residents that a fresh weather front would arrive Saturday, introducing atmospheric instability and even warmer conditions, with temperatures reaching 28 to 32 degrees Celsius (82.4 to 89.6°F).

Meteorologists predict the weather system will form along China's coastline, bringing strong southwestern winds across Taiwan. According to Lin, by Saturday afternoon, the convergence of the front's cloud formations with thermal dynamics could generate isolated showers or thunderstorms, primarily affecting northern and central coastal and mountainous regions. As Saturday evening approaches, the front will drift southward, triggering widespread, intermittent downpours, particularly intense across northern and central Taiwan.

Lin stressed the necessity for residents to prepare for significant precipitation that could continue through early Sunday. The meteorologist further explained that by Sunday morning, the weather front will depart, giving way to the northeast monsoon. This seasonal wind pattern will usher in cooler temperatures and introduce drier, more stable atmospheric conditions expected to last until Wednesday of the following week. ★
