TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Advanced Micro Devices Chair and CEO Lisa Su (蘇姿丰) arrived in Taiwan earlier this week, convening with key semiconductor supply chain partners amid growing concerns over U.S. tariff policies. Su hosted an exclusive dinner for Taiwanese industry leaders on Tuesday (April 16), including Compal Chairman Ray Chen (陳瑞聰) and Delta Electronics Chairman Ping Cheng (鄭平), as the sector grapples with disruptions triggered by President Donald Trump's trade policies.

During the high-profile gathering, Su emphasized AMD's commitment to developing comprehensive strategies addressing both immediate and future challenges posed by semiconductor tariffs. The executive revealed that her company maintains ongoing dialogue with U.S. government officials specifically regarding the semiconductor chip tariff situation, signaling the industry's growing concerns about trade policy impacts.

Su underscored AMD's identity as an American company with a strategic focus on reshoring manufacturing operations to the United States. The semiconductor giant is vigilantly tracking tariff developments while collaborating with global partners to address market uncertainties. The supply chain situation remains highly dynamic, according to Su, who emphasized the necessity of establishing diversified manufacturing networks worldwide while prioritizing risk management and expanding U.S. production capacity.

Addressing AMD's supply chain partnerships and artificial intelligence aspirations, Su revealed she met with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) CEO C.C. Wei (魏哲家) immediately upon her arrival Sunday. The executives discussed groundbreaking collaboration on the industry's first product utilizing TSMC's advanced 2-nanometer high-performance computing technology. This partnership positions AMD as TSMC's inaugural high-performance computing customer at its Arizona manufacturing facility, strengthening semiconductor ties between Taiwan and the United States. ★
