Jensen Huang's wealth hits US$120 billion as NVIDIA soars (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — NVIDIA's stock surged on Tuesday (May 14) after Jensen Huang (黃仁勳), the Taiwanese-American chief executive of the chipmaking giant, revealed a massive deal to supply 18,000 cutting-edge artificial intelligence processors to HUMAIN, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund focused on AI. The announcement came during Huang's visit to the Middle Eastern kingdom as part of U.S. President Trump's diplomatic entourage.

The semiconductor manufacturer's shares climbed sharply following the announcement, gaining 5.6% to close at US$129.93 (approximately NT$3,944.48) during regular trading hours. The stock continued its ascent with an additional 1% rise in after-hours trading, pushing NVIDIA's total market capitalization to roughly US$3.17 trillion (approximately NT$96.21 trillion). The strategic deal emerged during President Trump's diplomatic mission to the Middle East, where Huang joined the presidential delegation in Saudi Arabia.

The landmark agreement, which will deliver thousands of specialized processors to an artificial intelligence venture supported by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), the kingdom's massive sovereign wealth fund, has catapulted NVIDIA's market valuation back above the US$3 trillion threshold. Industry analysts view the deal as further evidence of the global race to secure advanced AI computing resources among resource-rich nations.

NVIDIA has transformed into the preeminent supplier of artificial intelligence hardware under Huang's strategic guidance, positioning itself among the planet's most valuable corporations. The 61-year-old executive has personally reaped enormous financial rewards from this success, with Forbes reporting his wealth has ballooned to nearly US$120 billion (approximately NT$3.64 trillion), a US$40 billion increase from last year's US$80 billion valuation. This dramatic wealth accumulation has propelled Huang to the position of 12th wealthiest individual worldwide. ★
