TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's capital is seeking top-tier talent to oversee its expanding portfolio of urban entertainment destinations. The Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC, 台北捷運公司), the public company that operates the city's extensive metro system, announced Tuesday (June 3) that it has launched an executive search for two leadership positions at its newly formed subsidiary, TRTC Recreation Business Corporation (北捷遊憩公司). Interested candidates have until June 15 to submit applications for the roles, which come with substantial compensation packages that underscore the subsidiary's strategic importance in managing several of Taipei's most prominent recreational facilities.
The compensation structure reveals the municipal enterprise's commitment to attracting experienced executives from Taiwan's competitive private sector. The general manager position offers a monthly salary ranging from NT$160,000 to NT$170,000 (approximately US$5,337 to US$5,671), with potential annual earnings reaching NT$2.788 million (about US$92,971). Meanwhile, the operations vice general manager can expect monthly compensation between NT$130,000 and NT$140,000 (US$4,337 to US$4,670), with yearly earnings potentially totaling NT$2.296 million (US$76,592). Both executive positions include a performance-based bonus structure that could add up to an additional 4.4 months' salary.
The executive search comes with stringent eligibility requirements that reflect the positions' public trust dimensions. Applicants for the general manager role must hold Republic of China (ROC, 中華民國) nationality — Taiwan's official name — and demonstrate substantial leadership experience, having served at least two years as a vice general manager or higher in an organization with a minimum of 200 employees. The operations vice general manager position maintains parallel citizenship requirements while slightly modifying the professional prerequisites, requiring candidates to have at least two years of experience at a senior management level in a relevant industry sector.
TRTC officials underscored the transparent and merit-based selection process designed to identify the most qualified candidates for these pivotal positions. Applicants must submit comprehensive documentation including educational credentials, professional experience verification, and a detailed business plan outlining their vision for the recreational subsidiary. The evaluation will proceed through a two-tiered assessment framework, with TRTC conducting an initial screening of candidates before forwarding finalists to the Taipei City Government, which will perform a secondary review before making final appointment decisions.
