TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Environment (MOENV, 環境部) announced on Friday (June 20) that universities across the nation will soon start their summer break, encouraging students to enroll in the net-zero green talent development program. Aimed at preparing talent for the 2050 net-zero emissions goal, the course offers a flexible 48-hour schedule with weekday and weekend options to accommodate diverse needs.
The ministry emphasized the program's suitability for students not majoring in science or engineering, with a registration fee of NT$12,000. On Aug. 30, the ministry will hold a national examination, and those who pass will receive an official certificate, enhancing their job market competitiveness. A spokesperson stated that the Ministry of Environment is committed to nurturing the next generation of green leaders.
Since April, the ministry has launched 62 classes, attracting over 1,400 participants, demonstrating significant interest in the initiative. The National Environmental Research Academy (國環院) offers tuition subsidies for students under 30 who pass the exam on their first attempt, with a 50% subsidy available, and full subsidies for disadvantaged groups. This initiative underscores the ministry's dedication to fostering a skilled workforce for a sustainable future.
