CHIAYI (TVBS News) — Starting Wednesday (June 25), the Alishan National Scenic Area Headquarters (阿里山國家風景區管理處) is launching a lottery promotion to boost tourism by offering travelers a chance to win round-trip tickets for two from Taipei to Tokyo. The event will run through Sept. 24, encouraging tourists to explore the scenic routes by using the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle (台灣好行) on the Alishan, Ruili (瑞里), and Taiping (太平) lines.
The Alishan Headquarters issued a press release urging travelers to use electronic tickets, such as EasyCard (悠遊卡), iPASS (一卡通), or icash, as well as tickets purchased at FamilyMart (全家便利商店) or through the Alishan EASY GO package. Participants can enter the lottery by registering online and completing a simple questionnaire. Each ride on the shuttle grants one lottery entry, and non-winning entries automatically roll over to future draws.
Three lottery draws will take place during the promotion, with winners announced on Aug. 15, Sept. 15, and Oct. 15 on the Travel Alishan (阿里山新印象) Facebook page. The grand prize includes round-trip tickets from Taipei to Tokyo, a one-night stay at Alishan House, and limited-edition gifts such as a Taiwan Tourist Shuttle commemorative towel, eco-friendly utensils, a waterproof toiletry bag, and a HiBear (喔熊) iPASS and automatic umbrella.
Huang I-ping (黃怡平), director of the Alishan Headquarters, highlighted Alishan's recent recognition by The New York Times as the 19th must-visit destination in 2025. This makes it the only Taiwanese location to earn a spot on the 52 places to visit globally this year.
