TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's artificial intelligence sector is experiencing rapid growth, with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) announcing plans in May to establish the island's largest AI supercomputer through collaboration with semiconductor giant TSMC (台積電), electronics manufacturer Foxconn (鴻海), and the Taiwan government. The initiative aims to bolster AI capabilities for local researchers and startups. At the same time, Taiwan's retail and workplace environments undergo significant AI-driven transformations, from cashier-less convenience stores to streamlined corporate processes.

Modern convenience stores across Taiwan have implemented sophisticated AI systems to optimize product management. These stores employ optical radar image recognition technology that activates when customers swipe their cards to enter, automatically recording selected items and enabling smartphone-based purchases.

"The AI ordering system automatically determines which products sell better in each store's business district, placing orders and delivering them through the logistics system," said Li Chi-he (李至和), director of public affairs for a major convenience store chain. "This reduces over 365 hours of work annually."

The technology extends beyond customer interactions to revolutionize backend operations. AI systems now analyze weather patterns and peak business hours, providing store managers with actionable insights to optimize inventory and staffing. In Taiwan's corporate landscape, generative AI applications have rapidly expanded across content creation, data analysis, and operational automation sectors.

"AI could significantly increase productivity by generating code and simplifying the process of frameworks in advance," said Rian, an employee who reported that AI assistance dramatically accelerates his data collection tasks across multiple platforms.

The shift toward AI integration is reshaping Taiwan's job market as well. Shan, a recruitment consultant for an international talent community, noted that "large corporations prioritize candidates familiar with generative AI tools or those with experience leading AI teams." However, Shan emphasized certain limitations, stating that "AI cannot replace human communication and the management of personal development, as AI focuses primarily on data analysis."

The island's AI development has accelerated to match the pace of global innovation, particularly through expanding partnerships with NVIDIA. These collaborations have extended AI's impact across Taiwan's industrial landscape, introducing innovative measures that promise to elevate living standards while delivering unprecedented results in productivity and efficiency.
