TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A survey by 1111 Job Bank (1111人力銀行) reveals that nearly 80% of Taiwanese companies have adopted AI technology, with 18.6% reporting significant improvements in operational efficiency. As AI rapidly evolves, it offers new opportunities across industries, yet concerns about human jobs being replaced by AI persist.

Oxford Economics found that recent graduates face unemployment, particularly in finance and computer science, due to AI's swift replacement of entry-level positions. Tseng Chung-wei (曾仲葳), a spokesperson for the job bank, noted a decline in tech industry engineering vacancies as AI replaces certain functions. "We're seeing fewer engineering positions in the tech sector as AI takes over some of these functions," said Tseng. Meanwhile, the hospitality and food service sectors continue to struggle with labor shortages.

Despite fears of replacement, AI-human collaboration is becoming common. Ms. Yeh (葉小姐), an event marketing professional, views AI as a valuable tool rather than a threat. "I use ChatGPT for content creation but modify the results to meet specific needs," Yeh said. "Human oversight is essential for accuracy. We are more meticulous than AI."

This sentiment reflects a growing trend of professionals integrating AI into their workflows while maintaining control over final outputs. KPMG's Chief Digital Officer Wayne Lai (賴偉晏) stressed the importance of understanding AI limitations and developing professional judgment to remain competitive in today's market. "While AI assists in data collection and processing for auditing, humans must interpret the processed data," Lai explained. "This is something AI cannot replace."

As AI integration continues across Taiwan's business landscape, balancing technology with human expertise will be crucial. Industry experts recommend that businesses adapt to new technology while professionals leverage AI to enhance their roles rather than resist the inevitable change.
