TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Aeonmotor Co., Ltd. (宏佳騰), one of Taiwan's leading motorcycle manufacturers, revealed a comprehensive brand refresh at the Taiwan Motorcycle Show on Friday (July 4). This rebranding underscores the company's strategic pivot toward a unified approach for both traditional combustion and electric vehicle product lines while intensifying efforts to penetrate international markets. The company's announcement strategically aligned with the opening day of the International Heavy Motor Show, a premier industry event where Aeonmotor displayed its newest vehicle lineup and conducted a formal product launch ceremony during the afternoon session.
Company executive Chung Ya-cheng (鍾亞成) highlighted how Aeonmotor stands to benefit from the newly implemented U.S.-Vietnam trade agreement, which establishes a 20% tariff on direct imports to the United States and a steeper 40% duty on transshipped products. These trade conditions, according to Chung, position the company's Vietnam manufacturing facility as a versatile production hub within their global supply network. He stressed that Aeonmotor's Vietnam operation was strategically established with specific focus on serving regional consumer preferences, allowing the company to maintain complementary manufacturing capabilities across both its Taiwanese and Vietnamese facilities.
The Vietnam operation serves as an innovation center for product development and customer acquisition, Chung explained, with possibilities for additional capital investment depending on evolving market conditions. He expressed confidence in the resilience of Aeonmotor's Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) business segment, noting that currency exchange rates tend to stabilize when viewed across full-year periods, insulating the company from temporary market volatility that might otherwise impact financial performance.
Looking ahead, Chung conveyed a positive outlook for Aeonmotor's business performance in the current fiscal year. "Certainty is better than uncertainty," he remarked, emphasizing the company's well-defined strategic roadmap and projecting stronger results than the previous year. A key component of this strategy involves the ongoing conversion of Aeonmotor's retail network across Taiwan to accommodate both traditional fuel-powered and electric vehicles under one roof. This retail transformation aims to achieve 10% year-over-year expansion in total store count nationwide. ◼
