TAIPEI (TVBS News) — ROF International Sport Marketing Co Ltd. (帕菲克國際運動行銷) released a press release on Monday (July 7) that the company has cooperated with the North American Taiwan Chambers of Commerce Association (TCCNA, 北美洲台灣商會聯合總會) to organize The New York Yankees' first-ever Taiwanese Heritage Day (台灣日) on September 10 at Yankee Stadium.
The New York Yankees have a tradition of celebrating diverse cultures, with past events highlighting Hispanic and Italian heritages. However, this is their inaugural Taiwanese Day, reflecting the growing importance of Taiwan within the Yankees community. A press release emphasized New York's role as a hub for Taiwanese students and professionals, noting the city's substantial Taiwanese population and cultural connections.
Eugenia Henry (白越珠), Director of TCCNA, highlighted the event's unique significance. She said Taiwanese fans are deeply affectionate of the Yankees, making this event historically and emotionally significant. The Yankees will distribute limited-edition caps and jerseys featuring the Taiwanese flag and "Taiwan," encouraging attendees to wear them in support.
Chien-Ming Wang (王建民), a retired Yankees star, expressed his excitement that he is very happy to hear that the Yankees will host a Taiwanese Heritage Day. It feels like Taiwan is truly being seen.
