TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Meteorologist Chia Hsin-hsing (賈新興) warned that a monsoon trough could create an environment favoring typhoon development in the southeast of Taiwan and near Japan in the coming 10 days, in his YouTube channel on Thursday (July 10).
Chia forecasted potential tropical system development near Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands on July 13 and 14. He said the systems could move toward Japan's southeast. A noticeable low-pressure area has emerged southeast of Taiwan, so Chia cautioned about the trend of tropical system development off the eastern coast of the Philippines on July 16 and 17.
The European model predicts that the low-pressure area southeast of Taiwan could move toward Okinawa between July 19 and 24. Meanwhile, the AI model indicates a clear monsoon trough in the area east of the Philippines and the South China Sea.
The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) noted that although Typhoon Danas has recently departed, Taiwan's weather remains under the influence of a low-pressure belt and southwest winds, increasing the likelihood of rain across the island, with a significant chance of torrential rain in the southern regions.
