TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Commuters faced significant delays on the Taipei Metro (台北捷運), the city's subway system, Wenhu (文湖) Line Tuesday (July 29) after an alert message disrupted service at 8:03 a.m. at Dazhi Station (大直站). The incident forced trains to operate in both directions on a single track, causing chaos during the morning rush hour across Taiwan's capital.

The Taipei Metro Operational Control Center (行控中心), which manages the subway system, coordinated single-track operations between Dazhi Station and Songshan Airport Station (松山機場站) while deploying shuttle buses from Jiannan Road Station (劍南路站) to Zhongshan Junior High School Station (中山國中站). The situation at Nanjing Fuxing Station (南京復興站), a major transfer hub, quickly deteriorated as crowds filled the platform and escalator entrance, leaving commuters with no room to queue.

Taipei Metro staff advised commuters to consider alternative transportation options as the disruption continued across multiple stations. Many frustrated passengers turned to taxis to reach their destinations during the extended delays. A notice at Xihu Station (西湖站) confirmed a train malfunction between Songshan Airport Station and Zhongshan Junior High School Station, further complicating the morning commute. Normal operations resumed at 9:22 a.m., with passengers stuck in the metro system for one hour on average. ◼
