TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A recent poll by Formosa Publishing Co., Ltd. (美麗島電子報), Taiwan's major polling organization, has revealed a dramatic shift in public opinion regarding Premier Cho Jung-tai's (卓榮泰) government Thursday (July 31). The survey, conducted from Monday (July 28) to Wednesday (July 30), indicates a troubling 50.2% disapproval rating for Taiwan's cabinet leader. This marks an alarming 11.2 percentage point increase from the previous month, reflecting growing public dissatisfaction with government performance.

The comprehensive poll, designed by veteran pollster Dai Li-an (戴立安), surveyed 1,082 adults across Taiwan's 22 counties and cities. The survey found that 41.7% of respondents believe a cabinet reshuffle is necessary to replace underperforming ministers following the recall election review. Additionally, 32% specifically advocate for replacing Premier Cho, while 31.1% see no immediate need for a government reshuffle.

Premier Cho's approval rating has plummeted by 9.4 percentage points to a concerning 28.3%, with only 7.2% expressing strong satisfaction and 21.1% somewhat satisfied with his leadership. The poll's margin of error stands at plus or minus 3.0 percentage points. The findings suggest potential political turbulence ahead, as mounting public sentiment may pressure Taiwan's government to consider significant changes in leadership structure. ◼
