Local governments requested military assistance as communities struggled with widespread flood damage and landslide debris.
Military personnel confronted treacherous terrain to assist residents in clearing extensive landslide-damaged zones throughout the affected districts. Central Taiwan witnessed similar military deployment as the Fifth Army Command mobilized cleanup forces while maintaining essential training schedules. Sixty military personnel arrived on Monday (Aug. 4) in multiple municipalities including Shuishang (水上) and Puzi (朴子) townships in Chiayi County (嘉義縣) and Chiayi City to tackle road clearance and fallen tree removal.
