TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署), the island's national meteorological service, predicted Tuesday (Sept. 2) varied weather patterns across Taiwan from Sept. 3-8, signaling a period of atmospheric instability. Forecasters expect predominantly cloudy to clear skies, with the Hengchun (恆春) Peninsula, Taiwan's southernmost tip, likely experiencing occasional short showers throughout the forecast period. Thunderstorms accompanied by localized heavy rainfall will become increasingly pronounced in western and mountainous regions during afternoon hours.
Weather conditions will shift dramatically as the Pacific high-pressure system strengthens from Sept. 5-7, fundamentally altering Taiwan's atmospheric dynamics. Most areas will maintain cloudy to clear conditions, while southeastern regions and the Hengchun Peninsula may experience brief intermittent showers. Thunderstorms will persistently affect the western half and mountainous regions during afternoon periods. The low-pressure zone positioned south of Taiwan will gradually move northward, substantially increasing atmospheric moisture in eastern areas and triggering brief showers on Sept. 7.
Wind patterns are expected to shift from south to southwest on Sept. 8, triggering brief showers across southern regions. Other areas will experience cloudy skies, with localized thunderstorms in northern and eastern mountains during afternoons. Throughout Sept. 2-8, temperatures will range from 25 to 28 degrees Celsius (77 to 82.4°F) across Taiwan and its offshore islands. Western regions will see sweltering highs of 34 to 35 degrees Celsius (93.2 to 95°F), while eastern areas reach 32 to 33 degrees Celsius (89.6 to 91.4°F). ◼
