TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese boxer Huang Hsiao-wen (黃筱雯) dominated Japanese contender Kokufu Korin (國府縞鈴) with a commanding 5-0 victory Friday (Sept. 5) at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool. The decisive triumph secured Huang's advancement to the octofinals in the 54-kilogram division. Her flawless performance showcased Taiwan's boxing prowess on the international stage.
Huang, who celebrated her 28th birthday on Aug. 31, stands at 175 centimeters (5 feet 9 inches), providing a significant height advantage over her opponent. The Taiwanese fighter dismantled Kokufu's defense in the opening round, earning maximum points from four judges with her dominant performance. Her relentless offensive strategy continued through the second round, where devastating combinations overwhelmed Kokufu and impressed all five judges.
Kokufu's stamina visibly deteriorated by the third round, allowing Huang to capitalize with aggressive attacks that sealed her comprehensive 5-0 victory. Coach Liu Tsung-tai (劉宗泰) praised Huang's exceptional performance, highlighting her decisive approach, perfectly timed punches, and complete control throughout the bout. The coach's assessment underscored Huang's tactical superiority and technical precision against her Japanese opponent.
Huang advances to face Mongolian boxer Yesugen Oyuntsetseg in the upcoming octofinals round, setting up a highly anticipated rematch. The two fighters previously clashed in the WB year-end championship match, where Huang secured victory with a 4-1 decision.
